Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide essential communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for hard-of-hearing students in an elementary school setting. This full-time role is based in Fort Myers, FL, supporting students one-on-one within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program. The position is on-site only and requires commitment through June 1, 2026. Key Responsibilities: Deliver clear and effective sign language interpretation to facilitate student learning and engagement Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility of instruction and participation Adapt communication to meet individual student needs within the DHH program Maintain accurate records and participate in relevant meetings or trainings Qualifications and Experience: Required EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.0 or higher Experience working with hard-of-hearing students in an educational setting is highly preferred Ability to obtain or verify clearance through fingerprinting compliant with state requirements Reliable availability for full-time hours (up to 37.5 hours per week) Location: Fort Myers, Florida On-site work at one elementary school Benefits: Gain valuable experience supporting young students in a public school environment Engage in meaningful work that makes a positive impact on student communication and learning Structured assignment within an established education program This opportunity is ideal for qualified sign language interpreters seeking meaningful, school-based work with a supportive team.
