Job Description:
Job Summary/Objective:Performs all surgical scheduling duties
and insurance verification functions for inpatients/outpatients'
procedures. Performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties
involving office coordination. Performs personal secretarial,
clerical and administrative support services for physicians and
office managers.Essential Job FunctionsCoordinates and schedules
all surgery patients for care center. Contacts third party payers
to verify patient benefits and determine necessity for service
pre-certification to support optimal financial outcomes.Schedule
all surgeries for all doctors-schedule diagnostic testing for all
doctors.Schedule physician's surgical cases for Office.Schedule and
obtain insurance authorizations for all procedures for
physicians.Arranges for all special procedures (Cochlear Implants,
Bone Anchore, Hearing Aids etc).Maintains communication with
patients, hospitals and primary care physicians.Insurance coverages
are determined, and limitations identified for specific services to
be rendered.Third party payors for inpatient/outpatient procedures
are verified and authorized.Information regarding insurance is
documented on verification form.Problem authorizations are referred
to Office Manager.Payment is collected for self-pay
patients.Obtains quotes from hospitals and anesthesia department
for out of the country patients. Maintains communication with
patients.Completes special projects or assignments as required to
support employees, management, or the department. Establishes and
maintains open lines of communication, both internal and external,
to effectively represent care center.Implements new forms and
procedures for surgical coordination and for the medical assistants
to improve patient care.Coordinates training for others when
applicable.Provides telephone coverage for medical
assistants.Provides secretarial support for physicians.Telephone
calls are received and responded to and, if applicable, forwarded
to the appropriate person.Patient inquiries are responded to or
referred to appropriate person.Patients are informed of
need/requirements; i.e. insurance cards, identification, accident
information, physician orders etc.Patients are notified when
co-payments and deductibles are required.Required Education and
ExperienceHigh school graduation or equivalent.At least one year of
