priority.Job ResponsibilitiesPosition requires a safe-minded
individual who is able to work efficiently, independently, and well
with others. This candidate will be responsible for the safe
operation and minor maintenance and repairs of a Boom-Truck and a
MARK IV Tamper. This candidate will also be responsible for
operating all leased equipment as assigned. The position will be
required to safely distribute and transport various track materials
such as railroad ties, rail and other track materials using a rear
mounted Boom Truck. The Operator will also be required to
effectively and safely surface and align tangent and curve railroad
track as well as railroad turnouts using the MARK IV Tamper. Both
pieces of equipment must be safely operated along the entire USSC
railroad system.Qualifications
- Must have positive results from Company-designated tests
designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude
and/or other interests, skills and characteristics.
- Must be able to understand track geometry and track safety
standards.
- Must be able to operate a Boom Truck and Mark IV Tamper
proficiently
- Must be able to perform daily inspections and operator care
maintenance processes associated with the Boom Truck and Tamper in
accordance with manufacturers requirements
- Ability to coordinate work and communicate with Railroad
Operations
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate information
pertaining to the job to co-workers
- Ability to read, speak and write English
- Ability to perform maintenance and assist in repairs on track,
boom truck and Mark IV tamper
- Ability to work with others and or alone with minimum
supervision
- Ability to perform job functions such as:
-
- maintain written documentation pertaining to the job
- read and apply processes and procedures according to operating
and maintenance manuals
- perform mathematical calculations pertaining to the job
- Must have a minimum of four (4) years Railroad Maintenance
experience
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of
the job such as heavy lifting, bending, walking and climbing
- Ability to follow proper safety and housekeeping procedures
pertaining to work equipment and area.
- Ability to work anywhere within the company in variable/extreme
weather conditions
- Ability to work the posted schedule and overtime as necessary
including nights, weekends and holidays
- Must have successfully passed the TOST/Ramsay Test
- Must have successfully passed the Roadway Worker Test with a
minimum score of 85%
- Must have successfully passed the Track Safety Standard Course
with a minimum score of 85%
- Must be able to understand railroad safety procedures
- Must possess a valid CDL Class A driver's license with A
Trailer endorsement

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee works and
drives in outside weather conditions on a regular basis.

environment
- Employee is also required to drive a vehicle for extended time

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to sit
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands
to handle and/or move various objects, tools and/or controls, reach
with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk, hear, and see
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance
vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the
ability to adjust focus. Visibility must extend to 62' and
beyond.
- This position is required to be on-call which could happen at
night where job tasks and operating equipment must be
performed.
- Ability to operate and use all on-track equipment necessary and
use common office equipment
- Ability to move or handle various items generally weighing
between 0-75 pounds. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.This
