Job Description:

Our Technical Support Specialist assists the Manager of Health Information Systems and end-users in the daily operations of the hospital. This position is responsible for software support.Education:A college degree from an accredited college in a related field requiredExperience:Minimum 2 years of experience in the use of personal computers and information systems requiredMust have understanding of the design and maintenance of various software applications, data querying, report development, presentations and spreadsheetsLicenses/Certifications:Certifications in computers or information services preferredCommunication Skills:Ability to communicate effectively with all staffing levels, both written and verbal, to ensure final products meet end-user requirements.Crystal Report Writer/Other Report Development: Maintains, modifies and produces accurate and timely reports from other hospital databases or other data sources as needed/required. Assists hospital management staff with gathering and collating of data for various reports and presentations. Maintains hospital databases according to standards and best practices. Coordinates and collates information for hospital wide use as required. Assists hospital staff with data analysis and interpretation of reports.Help Desk Technical Assistance: Assists end-users with technical support requests when needed. Responds to and handles technical support requests in a professional manner. Keeps staff informed of changes/updates to their computers. Logs all technical support requests in Tech Support database. Troubleshoots computer hardware problems and makes repairs to computers within the capabilities of the HIS Department, and arranges repair with a designated vendor if needed. Troubleshoots computer software problems within the capabilities of the HIS Department, and works with software vendor/maker support staff to resolve problems. Troubleshoots printing problems when needed. Changes cartridges/toners/drums as needed. Orders equipment supplies as needed and contacts equipment vendors for repair requests. Identifies and keeps supervisor informed of potential issues with the hospital computer systems. Operates data backup and vaulting process.Supports the daily operation of the Tier Workflow/Electronic Medical Records System by assisting users with technical support.Regulatory: Complies with the Rules and Regulations of the HIS Department, as well as regulatory requirements via Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), The Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Children and Families (DCF). Handles other tasks as assigned. Helps staff search and locate information on the Internet. Provides staff training and provides Helpdesk Support.Other Related Duties: Work with the technical systems specialist in hardware configuration, coordinate audiovisual presentations, coordinate telecommunications changes and upgrades, preparing requisitions for purchase, and other duties as assigned.Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.Perform other duties as assigned.Wellpath is an EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disability Employer
